Influencer marketing. You’ve probably heard this term before, and may have some idea of what it is.
Here’s the deal: if you’re not taking advantage of this new trend, you’re missing out big time on the opportunity of the year traffic-wise.
It’s not a big secret that most people spend half their lives on social media now, with mobile devices tethered to their bodies 24/7. Ask anyone who has a teen and they’ll tell you that this is practically the only way to reach a millenial these days!
So what it boils down to is this: influencer marketing involves individuals or brands that have a large swath of influence in the digital media world, and tell their audience about you, your products, services or the like. Think of it like word of mouth marketing gone digital with an exponential component. (Sharing)
This can yield incredibly fast and large results. Within hours you could be staring at large umbers of unique visitors hitting your pages, and this can last for a while too. Not to mention the permanent effect of having lots of new fans and followers, and perhaps some email signups and sales to boot. (Depending of course on the objective of you campaign to start with!)
Another thing: these influencers don’t have to have ten billion followers for this to be effective. Not even close. Engaged followings of even 5-10,000 can make a big difference for you, particularly at the outset. In fact, “celebrity” influencers may be too hard or expensive for you to work with right away, not to mention they may have an audience not particularly suited to your needs.
Which Influencer Marketing Channels Are the Best?
While YouTube started the whole influencer thing, it is not top dog anymore. That would be Instagram. While this can be worked to great advantage on Facebook, Pinterest, SnapChat and YouTube, Instagram is where it’s at right now for fast and dirt-cheap results.
How Do You Find These Influencers?
You can also find influencers from a simple search on Google, networking, but far and away the best choice for conducting your influencer mnarketing research is on the platform of choice itself.
Using Instagrm as an example, you would simply keyword search for your market; such as “hair”, which will return all popular instagram pages on the subject.
One of these is styleartists
As you can see, they have 7.6 million followers. Some of of their images and videos have hundreds of thousands of views. In fact the second video in the panel has nearly 24,000 views in 59 minutes, at the time I’m writing this. In their description is the way to contact them with Kik, a messaging app. Others prefer email or DMs. Go with the flow, see what deals you can make.
The Case for Significant ROI
Another not to be ignored aspect of influencer marketing is the high likelihood that you will achieve a very good ROI for your troubles. It’s entirely common for brands AND individuals to realize 100% – 1500% ROI on their campaigns. This obviously will make your dollar go further. Those of you who’ve been around long enough to remember the beginnings of Adwords and even Facebook ads will see the familiarity here.
